Capitol Records Building
One of the most distinctive and iconic landmarks in Hollywood is the
13 story Capitol Records tower near the corner of Hollywood and Vine
that was constructed in 1955 and 1956. A bit of trivia many
people are not aware of: the blinking light on top of the building
spells out the world "Hollywood" in Morse code, and it has been doing
that since the building first opened in 1956. In
September of 2006, building owner sold the building and some adjacent
property for about $50 million to New York developer Argent Ventures.
